Job description :

The Vice-President Finance will be responsible for managing the finance team of over 20 people. His/her role will be to plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate all operations of the finance department.

He/she will develop and implement procedures for the institution's financial systems and set performance standards for senior management.

Description of Key Responsibilities

 

  • Plans, organizes, directs and controls the activities of the finance department and provides active leadership within the department;
  • Analyze the financial performance of the company and its various business lines and propose solutions to maintain and develop profitability;
  • Maintain tight control over costs and administrative expenses;
  • Supervise the development, implementation and maintenance of budgeting and accounting systems, as well as the development of adequate management reports;
  • Structure the operations of his department to optimize the efficiency of accounting processes, produce financial information within the required timeframe and ensure compliance;
  • Implement adequate asset management and control mechanisms;
  • Responsible for the monthly consolidated financial statements and year-end audit of the group including an international subsidiary;
  • Responsible for the annual consolidated budget and explanation of variances;
  • Responsible for the application of taxes, R&D credits and sales taxes as well as the audit of governmental authorities;
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate internal controls; 
  • Responsible for system developments and improvements;
  • Responsible for profit sharing agreements with external partners;
  • All other related duties associated with the finances of the Consolidated Group companies.
     

Skills and qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CA and CPA (MBA an asset)
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in a similar role;
  • Experience in managing foreign subsidiaries (an asset);
  • Professionally bilingual (French and English)
