General summary:

The Vice-President of Marketing, CANADA is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of profitable marketing programs and the operation of assigned businesses, as well as the management of a portfolio of key products for Canada.  In addition, the individual will work with the other Senior Leaders in Canada and the US, creating Strategic Plans for the Canadian Business.

Description of essential functions:

  • Drive the development and implementation of annual business plans (and contingencies) and recommend on-going modifications to achieve the approved volume, share, spending, and profit objectives for all company brands with a main focus on Canada.
  • Prepare strategic plans and contingencies for executive review and approval, as well as guide the long-term business planning/development function.
  • Oversee the management of the marketing communications and promotional strategies for the Canadian market to ensure consistency on their implementation and execution.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of the marketing and promotional plans by developing control mechanisms to measure returns, etc.
  • Analyze (and supervise the analysis of) the business (including market research) on a continuous basis to ensure that plans/programs are appropriate to evolving business needs, and implement strategic/tactical changes as appropriate.
  • Oversee the development and execution of consumer and trade promotion programs to ensure that established objectives are met.
  • Manage programs productively through internal staff groups to ensure sound execution of all programs and appropriate financial management.
  • Work seamlessly with other members of the senior leadership team across all business functions – Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance.
  • Oversee product development function, taking US destined products and adapting them for Canadian market.
  • Oversee work with domestic and foreign suppliers; inclusive of new product development, product adaptation, and graphics changes, launch material for execution by sales.
  • Size, scope and complexity of assigned portfolio are factors in the level of responsibility.

Skills and qualifications :

Qualifications, Education and experience:

  • BA/BS degree in Marketing or related field.
  • MBA or other advanced degree a plus.
  • 8+ years of related professional and progressive Canadian Marketing experience in the CPG industry.
  • Prior team management experience combined with a proven track record of developing, coaching and mentoring a diverse and creative staff.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with large brand experience within the Health & Beauty categories.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Language skills, French & English proficiency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers.
  • Strong analytical skills as well as organizational skills.
  • Solid project management capabilities with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously from origin through execution.
  • Ability to provide insight and input into strategic decision making and operations as it related to the business development area.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.
  • Ability to travel, approximately 30%.
  • Must be team oriented with the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams.
