National Retail Sales Manager - Consumer Goods Industry

Job description :

Our client is a Canadian based manufacturer, importer, and supplier of premium products across multiple categories to the consumer goods industry. The organization contributes their ongoing growth and success by capturing valuable market shares through constant innovation.

The NRSM will manage the Canadian retail budget, and also be responsible for oversite of the retail sales force for both chain and independent retailers.

Role responsibilities

  • Motivating and leading a high-powered sales team to achieve all customer budgets/plans
  • Full Retail Sales Promotional responsibility
  • Continue to build deep relationships with our National and Regional customers
  • Work strategically with Regional Branch Managers to build strong executional plans at the customer level
  • Engage, communicate and support our Independent Distributor network
  • Creating an environment for superior execution through process and accountability in the field
  • Leveraging internal sales platforms (ACPAC and inhouse sales software) to achieve consistent go-to-market execution across the country
  • Continual training, coaching and development of the field teams
  • Develop and present executive level business results and performance/strategy updates to the senior leadership team both internally and externally
  • Engage internal departments such as Demand Planning and warehousing to ensure we are operationally ready to execute our big brands and promotions
  • Determine key drivers to both meet and exceed our sales plan through incremental field execution

Skills and qualifications :

  • 10+ years’ progressive experience in CPG Industry; minimum 5-7 years in broad leadership roles
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills with the ability to communicate and interact with all levels of an organization
  • Superior leadership skills, ability to develop talent and engage teams
  • Extensive experience & knowledge in developing and implementing strategic sales and business plans
  • Experience leading and developing a high-performing DSD team
  • Strong analytical skills, with ability to forecast sales revenues and budgets (Category Management experience preferred)
  • High level of integrity, confidentially and accountability with strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize and execute on sales plans
  • Well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
  • Professional personal presentation and positive attitude
