Job description :

Reporting to the General Manager, the Environment and Sustainability Superintendent is responsible for all aspects of environmental and community relations including other properties surrounding the mine site.


Main responsabilities

  • Ensure environmental compliance with all federal, provincial and municipal environmental regulations
  • Compile and review environmental compliance reports and ensure timely submission to government
  • Manage the environmental monitoring programs and permitting process for the site (i.e. new and existing properties)
  • Ensure the completion of strategic projects related to infrastructure developments, such as the tailings facility
  • Work with various consultants in the completion of various projects, studies, audits and reports to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Work with all departments to maintain and update respective environmental compliance monitoring plans as needed
  • Guide the implementation of environmental management systems(TSM), procedures and policies and ensure that all regulatory/legal compliance requirements are strictly adhered to and covered in the site's standard operating procedures
  • Support the Vice President Environment and Sustainable Development in the implementation of the management system and sustainable development initiative at the mine complex
  • Ensures that appropriate environmental training is provided as required
  • Develops, coordinates and participates in the community engagement plan (local and aboriginal) and public consultation
  • Develops internal strategies with respect to regulatory affairs and social acceptability 

Skills and qualifications :

 

  • University degree in environment or relevant degree - combined with years of direct professional experience in the field
  • Excellent knowledge of provincial and federal laws and regulations
  • Bilingual (English and French)

  • Good understanding of extraction and concentration processes and their environmental effects;
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to lead a technical team in a direction that respects their objectives and the requirements of the company in conjunction with the Director of Sustainable Development
  • Demonstrate a high level of energy, self-motivation and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to facilitate engagement in a collaborative team effort
